Ram Lalla’s consecration will take place in the revered town of Ayodhya, which is resonant with a 500-year-old narratives. The Prime Minister will preside over the historic Pran Pratishtha ceremony. Numerous celebrities, including the Chief Minister and Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, the head of the temple trust, are accompanying him. This event holds special significance in Ayodhya’s cultural history, as it represents the conclusion of a centuries-old tale, going beyond an ordinary religious show. The city, which is highly significant historically and is regarded as the birthplace of Lord Ram, looks forward to this auspicious occasion.
Temple demolition in 1528:
The year 1528 brought about a major change in Ayodhya when a mosque was built in place of a temple. The construction of a mosque at the location thought to be Lord Rama’s birthplace was carried out by general Mir Baq, a general under the reign of Mughal ruler Babur, as reported in the popular government gazettes.
The Ayodhya land dispute starts in 1853:
In 1853, religious disturbances overshadowed the building of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya for the first time. In response, the British government divided the contested area into two sections with barrier. It gave Muslims permission to pray inside the building and gave Hindus permission to pray in the outer court.

1949- An idol of Ram Lalla was discovered inside the site:
The Ram Janambhoomi land dispute issue took a significant turn this year when an application concerning the goddess was filed in the Faizabad court in response to allegations that Ram Lalla idols were discovered within the Babri Masjid compound. The Muslim side argued in court that Hindus had positioned the idol in a mysterious manner.

The Grand Ram Mandir movement in 1990:
The Grand Rath Yatra, spearheaded by the BJP and overseen by Lal Krishna Advani, marked the beginning of the Ram Mandir movement in 1990. Advani led the procession from Somnath in Gujarat to Ayodhya as part of the mass movement, which was supported by Hindu organizations.

1992- Destruction of the Babri Masjid:
A seismic event that rocked the Ram Mandir movement in 1992 was the falling down of Babri Masjid by kar sevaks, which led to significant political tensions and national communal violence. At least 2,000 people lost their lives in the destruction, which happened alongside leaders of the Shiv Sena, VHP, and BJP. It had a lasting effect on India’s socio-political scene.



Controversial site surveyed by ASI in 2003:
In 2003, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) was directed by a three-judge panel of the Allahabad High Court to excavate the disputed site and determine whether it was once a temple. After the survey, the ASI report found a significant Hindu structure under the built-up mosque.
The Supreme Court examines a land dispute case in 2011:
2011 saw the continuation of the Ayodhya legal crisis due to appeals from the Sunni Waqf Board, Ram Lalla Virajman, and Nirmohi Akhara against the Allahabad High Court’s decision. The High Court’s ruling that had divided the contested site into three sections was immediately stayed by the Supreme Court.
SC ends a centuries-old dispute in 2019:
The Ayodhya dispute came to a conclusion when the Supreme Court, ruled over by India’s then-chief justice Ranjan Gogoi, rendered a historic ruling. After finding in favor of the Hindu side, the highest court mandated that the entire disputed property be transferred to a government-established trust. An important factor in the court decision was the 2003 ASI survey report.
2020- Prime Minister Modi sets the Ram Temple’s foundation:
August 5, 2020 saw the laying of the foundation stone for the Ram Temple by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He not only unveiled a postal stamp to commemorate the historic start of Ram Mandir’s construction but also laid the foundation stone.

Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha, 2024:
On 22nd January 2024 Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to preside over the unique Pran Pratishthan rites, and the temple town of Ayodhya is ready to greet Lord Ram. People from all walks of life, including leaders of the nation’s major spiritual and religious groups, representatives of numerous tribal groupings, and well-known individuals, will be present during the Pran Pratishtha of the idol of Ram Lalla, the childhood form of Lord Ram.
