Riya Arvinda Barde, a Bangladeshi adult film actress, was arrested on Thursday in Ulhasnagar, Thane district, Maharashtra, for allegedly staying in India illegally using fake documents. Police received a tip-off regarding her identity and potential involvement in a cheating and forgery case, leading to an FIR against her under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) related to cheating and forgery, as well as the Foreigners Act.
The investigation into Riya Barde’s identity began a year ago when police discovered discrepancies in her documents. Her birth certificate, school leaving certificate, and passport all listed different places of birth, including North 24 Parganas and Hooghly in West Bengal and Achalpur in Maharashtra’s Amravati district. This raised suspicions about the authenticity of her documentation.
In addition to fabricating her own identity, Riya is accused of conspiring to obtain a fake education certificate and passport for one of her accomplices. Her arrest is part of a broader crackdown on illegal immigration, with Riya being one of eight Bangladeshi nationals arrested this week in Maharashtra for staying in India without proper documentation.
The police are now investigating further to understand the extent of the operation and the network involved in creating and using fake documents. Riya Barde’s case highlights ongoing issues related to illegal immigration and the use of fraudulent documents in India. Authorities are taking this matter seriously, aiming to prevent similar incidents in the future.
As investigations continue, police are also looking into other individuals who may be connected to Riya’s case to ensure that all those involved in illegal activities are held accountable. The community remains on alert as the police enhance their efforts to curb such illegal activities in the region.
