Since the release of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence-powered chatbot, amateur access to AI has risen, with users using the platform for a variety of purposes ranging from writing assignments and realistic movie scenes to sermons and screenplays.
Concerns that AI could replace human employees have grown as ChatGPT technology expands, with one concerned user asking ChatGPT what jobs it felt AI could take over.
The OpenAI chatbot responded with a list of 8 jobs it might be able to replace:
1. Mathematicians
While you would believe mathematicians are immune to ChatGPT, their profession is one of the most vulnerable. Maths has always been a topic in which people struggle to solve complex problems. ChatGPT (and AI in general) can do a lot thanks to the current GPT-4 model. Even at this stage, ChatGPT can answer complex mathematical equations and formulas.
2. Poets, Lyricists, and Writers
Creativity is one of the most contentious issues when it comes to whether humans are superior to AI. After all, how can a machine be expected to be more in tune with the world than a human? Unfortunately, this is changing rapidly, with AI threatening jobs in the creative industries. You know what we’re talking about if you’ve ever used ChatGPT to quickly compose a haiku or two.
3. Web Designers
Almost every fantastic website we come across online is painstakingly created by web designers who comb over every single element in code. This includes a significant amount of web development. Unfortunately, AI such as ChatGPT is undermining the profession of site designers. While firms like Wix utilise AI to assist customers in building websites, bots that do much more have begun to emerge.
4. Paralegals and lawyers
While paralegals and legal administrators are not literal translators, they do play a significant role in turning complex legal texts into summaries and briefs. As you might expect, translating legal materials into consumable briefs is a difficult undertaking. However, AI has proved useful there as well.
5. Social Media Manager
A corporation, like YouTube, requires well-trained and capable employees to manage its public relations. However, no corporation directly communicates with the user. Social media managers bridge this gap by creating and implementing a well-thought-out plan for a company’s social media interactions and content. However, ChatGPT and its applications are gradually covering this specific task as well.
6. Teachers
For a long time, the teaching business has mostly stayed unchanged. Most things are the same when it comes to teaching methods or the setting. However, as AI gains capability, it is giving much-needed assistance in this area. We’ve already highlighted how bots like ChatGPT excel at writing complex programming code or breaking down challenging concepts.
7. Graphic designers
Not just website designers are concerned about ChatGPT taking their jobs. Graphic designers, like the former, are in charge of creating stunning graphics, which demands a lot of ingenuity and effort. However, the market is now flooded with some of the best AI picture producers, making things considerably more difficult.
8. Proof-readers
While you may believe that proofreading is a simple task, it takes time. Proofreading articles or content of any kind takes more than just checking for spelling issues; it also necessitates fact-checking. As one might expect, it’s a difficult job. However, ChatGPT has made it extremely simple for proof-readers to not only request assistance, but also to submit all of their work to AI.
The software also highlighted the characteristics that it would replace in these occupations; for example, if replacing a data entry clerk, the software would have the speed and accuracy required for the position.
8 jobs that Chat GPT 4 will likely replace in the near future. AI predicted it.
With a recent World Economic Forum analysis predicting that 85 million jobs will be lost by 2025 as a direct result of the tug-of-war between people and technology, these scenarios become increasingly realistic. However, there is still reason for optimism.
According to the same estimate, more employment will be created as a result of this change, more than would be destroyed. Approximately 97 million “future jobs” are expected to be created as a result of AI taking over menial, repetitive tasks. These include employment in recruitment as well as jobs that contribute to the advancement of artificial intelligence technologies
