The Delhi Police has summoned YouTuber Elvish Yadav, comedian Bharti Singh, and several others in connection with the HiBox investment scam, a large-scale fraud that deceived more than 30,000 people, Times of India reported on Monday, October 7. The accused are alleged to have promoted the HiBox mobile application and encouraged people to invest in it, unknowingly leading them into the ₹500-crore scam. The fraudulent app, launched in February 2024, promised high returns on stock trading, attracting thousands of investors.
Prominent influencers and content creators, including Saurav Joshi, Abhishek Malhan, Purav Jha, Harsh Limbachiya, Lakshay Choudhary, Adarsh Singh, Amit, and Dilraj Singh Rawat, are also allegedly linked to the scam. These personalities reportedly used their platforms to endorse the HiBox app, helping it gain widespread attention and trust among their fan bases. The Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations Unit (IFSO) of the Delhi Police arrested a 30-year-old Chennai resident in connection with the scam, which has impacted thousands of investors across India.
According to police, the HiBox app lured investors with promises of substantial profits from stock trading, but it was later revealed to be a fraudulent scheme. Users began reporting issues with withdrawing their earnings, and soon the app ceased operations, leaving investors unable to recover their money. The scale of the fraud and the involvement of well-known public figures have intensified the investigation, as many claim they were influenced by the endorsements of these celebrities.
The Delhi Police have asked the summoned individuals to cooperate with the investigation, as authorities work to unravel the extent of their involvement and whether they knowingly promoted the fraudulent app. The case has raised concerns about the responsibility of influencers in promoting financial products without proper due diligence. Further developments in the investigation are expected in the coming days as the police probe continues.
