In a landmark operation, the Delhi Police seized over 500 kg of cocaine, valued at over ₹2,000 crore, during a raid in Mahipalpur Extension, marking the largest drug bust in the national capital’s history. The operation was conducted by the Special Cell of Delhi Police and resulted in the arrest of four individuals linked to an international drug syndicate reportedly supplying narcotics to high-profile parties.
The primary suspect, Tushar Goyal, a resident of Vasant Vihar, was apprehended along with his associates, Himanshu and Aurangzeb, as well as Bharat Jain, who is said to be a receiver from Kurla West. Authorities discovered approximately 15 kg of cocaine on the accused, with the bulk of the drugs recovered from a godown used for storage.
Pramod Singh Kushwaha, Additional Commissioner of Police for the Special Cell, emphasized the significance of this seizure, calling it the “biggest cocaine haul in recent times.” Investigations have hinted at potential connections to a Middle Eastern country, raising concerns about the syndicate’s broader operational network.
This major bust comes at a critical time, just ahead of the festive season, prompting police to investigate a possible narco-terror angle linked to the operation. The syndicate was allegedly planning to distribute these drugs throughout Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).
The significant seizure adds to a series of recent drug-related arrests in Delhi. Just days prior, two Afghan nationals were detained in Tilak Nagar with heroin and cocaine, and Delhi Customs intercepted 1,660 grams of cocaine from a Liberian national at Indira Gandhi International Airport. These incidents reflect a growing effort by law enforcement agencies to combat the rising tide of narcotics trafficking in the region, highlighting the urgent need for vigilance and action against drug-related crimes.
