Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi has assumed office as the 26th Chief of the Indian Navy, succeeding R Hari Kumar. Born on May 15, 1964, Admiral Tripathi joined the Indian Navy’s executive branch in 1985. He brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise, particularly in communication and electronic warfare.

Having attended prestigious institutions like Sainik School Rewa and the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, Admiral Tripathi’s career has been marked by numerous accolades. Notably, he was awarded the Thimmaiya Medal during his time at the Defence Services Staff College and the Robert E Bateman International Prize at the US Naval War College.
Before assuming the role of Navy chief, Admiral Tripathi served as the Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, where he played a significant role in shaping the Navy’s strategic direction and operational readiness. His leadership extends to commanding various Indian Naval Ships and holding key staff positions, highlighting his comprehensive understanding of naval operations and management. Throughout his career, Admiral Tripathi has been honored with prestigious awards such as the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) and Nau Sena Medal (NM), recognizing his exceptional contributions to the Navy.
