A tragic incident unfolded in Gurugram as a man reportedly died by suicide just hours after killing his wife, leaving their two-year-old son beside her body. The police revealed that Gaurav Sharma, 30, allegedly slit his wife Laxmi Rawat’s throat with a sharp-edged weapon and struck her head with a brick. The couple’s child was also injured by a brick. The disturbing discovery was made by neighbors who heard the cries of the boy and alerted the security guard in DLF Phase 3.
Upon reaching the scene, the police broke open the locked door and found the lifeless body of Laxmi, with the injured child crying nearby. The deceased woman’s mobile phone was discovered on the toilet seat. The injured child was promptly taken to a civil hospital and later referred to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital. Subsequently, the child was handed over to Laxmi’s family members, who took him to their native place in Agra.
Laxmi, originally from Agra, had been residing in Gurugram with her husband Gaurav for approximately six months. Gaurav, who worked with a private company, was currently unemployed, according to the police. Investigators suspect that a domestic dispute between the couple escalated into a violent altercation, resulting in the tragic death of Laxmi.
“All the circumstantial evidence suggests that Gaurav Sharma, who committed suicide, had killed his wife Laxmi. We have filed an FIR of murder against him,” stated Inspector Dinkar, SHO of DLF Phase-3 police station.
Gaurav’s phone was found out of service, but the police received crucial information around 11:45 pm that a person had allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the Kaushambi metro station in Ghaziabad. A police team confirmed that the deceased was indeed Gaurav Sharma.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shubham Patel, mentioned that the body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem, marking a grim end to this distressing and tragic sequence of events.
