In a horrifying event, a taxi driver in the Mirzapur region of Uttar Pradesh killed a man because the victim objected to the driver criticising Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Amjad, the driver, and Rajesh Dubey, 52, the victim, have each been recognised. On Sunday, the victim had travelled to his nephew’s wedding. His brother disclosed that Rajesh Dubey and Dhirendra Pandey, who was present in the car, had a political conversation on Monday while on their way home.Rajesh and the driver, Amjad, got into a fight over the political conversation. Before departing for his village, Dhirendra Pandey intervened and put an end to the problem. Rajesh was picked up by the accused and left off on the road rather than at his house.
Rajesh was intentionally run over as he approached his house in a Bolero car by the driver, who then fled the scene after dragging him for about 50 feet. On the spot, the victim was pronounced dead.
“Deceased Rajesh Dubey went to his brother Rakesh Dubey’s son’s wedding in Mirzapur by this car. A relative of his, who was also sitting in the SUV, told that there were some arguments over politics which irked the driver, which led to the incident”, said Mirzapur Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar Mishra.
After learning about the unfortunate incident, the departed’s family members protested by blocking the Mirzapur-Prayagraj highway and calling for the culprit’s quick capture. After assuring the family members that the murderer would be caught, the police were able convince them to go back home.
