It is believed that the Native children, one of them was only 11 months old, consumed food left behind by rescuers and made use of their own ancestry.
In Colombia, four children who were lost in the Amazon jungle after the crash of a small plane were found after 40 days. This was announced by Colombian President Gustavo Petro. The children, aged one, four, nine and 13, were rescued by the army near the plane crash site, Reuters wrote.
“Joy for the whole country! Four children who went missing in the Colombian jungle have been found alive.” the president wrote on Twitter. In addition to the four children, there were three adults on the plane, including the children’s mother and the pilot. The Cessna 206 crashed on May 1. The adults died in the crash and their bodies were found on the plane.
The children came from an indigenous community, which may have helped them survive in the jungle for such a long time, according to DPA. During the search, various traces were found, including temporary shelters or the remains of eaten fruit.
“The children were together. They are weak, they must be examined by doctors,” Peto told reporters. “They found them, I’m very happy about that,” he added. The president initially announced the finding of the children on May 17. However, he subsequently stated that this information was not confirmed.
