Bhopal: In a swift response to a viral video showcasing Shajapur district collector Kishore Kanyal using disrespectful language towards a truck driver during a meeting, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has taken decisive action, removing him from his post. The video depicted Kanyal questioning the truck driver’s ‘aukat’ (status) during a discussion on the truckers’ strike protesting the new ‘hit-and-run’ law.
Chief Minister Yadav, expressing strong disapproval, stated that such language would not be tolerated in his government. The incident occurred at a meeting with transporters convened to dissuade them from participating in the truckers’ strike. Kanyal, in a moment of frustration, snubbed one of the transporters, emphasizing the need for respectful communication.
Kanyal later issued an apology, clarifying that he did not intend to offend anyone. However, the Chief Minister acted swiftly, asserting the importance of respecting the poor and their sentiments. He declared that such language is unacceptable under his administration, emphasizing the government’s commitment to uplift the marginalized.
Chief Minister Yadav, citing his own humble background, stressed that officers using disrespectful language do not deserve field postings. In response to the incident, Kanyal has been reassigned to the state secretariat as deputy secretary. The Chief Minister expressed hope for improved behavior, underscoring the need for officials to communicate respectfully, especially when addressing concerns of the public.
This incident sheds light on the importance of accountability and respectful communication among officials, reinforcing the expectation that those in positions of authority uphold high standards of conduct. As governments work towards public welfare, incidents like these underscore the need for officials to prioritize respectful engagement, ensuring that the public’s concerns are addressed with dignity and empathy.
