In a significant meeting at the Prime Minister’s official residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg (7LKM), leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) unanimously endorsed Narendra Modi as their leader. The proposal, passed during this crucial gathering, sets the stage for the swift formation of the next government.

During the meeting, Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar urged Prime Minister Modi to expedite the process of forming the new government. “Jaldi kijiye (act fast),” Kumar told the PM. “There should not be any delay in forming the government. We should do it as soon as possible,” he emphasized, according to sources.
The support of Nitish Kumar and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Chandrababu Naidu is pivotal for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to establish the new government. Together, these leaders contribute 28 MPs to the NDA’s tally. Naidu, prior to attending the NDA meeting in Delhi, reaffirmed his commitment by stating, “We are in NDA. I am going for an NDA meeting.”
The TDP secured 16 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh, while the JD(U) won 12 of the 40 seats in Bihar. Despite the BJP falling short of a majority with 240 seats, the NDA collectively holds 292 seats, ensuring a comfortable majority to form the government.
Prime Minister Modi and other NDA leaders are scheduled to meet President Droupadi Murmu to officially stake their claim to form the new government under Modi’s leadership. This move follows the NDA meeting’s consensus and the strategic discussions held during the session.
The NDA meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including Chandrababu Naidu, Nitish Kumar, Maharashtra CM and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde, HD Kumaraswamy, Jitan Ram Manjhi, Chirag Paswan, Pawan Kalyan, Anupriya Patel, Jayant Chaudhury, and Praful Patel. JD(U) leaders Lallan Singh and Sanjay Jha also participated in the discussions.
From the BJP, the meeting saw the presence of prominent figures such as BJP President JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Their attendance highlighted the significance of the meeting and the unified approach of the NDA coalition.
The term of the current 17th Lok Sabha ends on June 16, making the swift formation of the new government crucial. With the NDA securing a majority, albeit narrowly, the coalition aims to ensure a seamless transition and continuation of governance under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
This decisive support and strategic planning underscore the NDA’s commitment to stable and effective governance, reflecting the coalition’s readiness to meet the expectations of the Indian electorate. The forthcoming government formation under Narendra Modi’s leadership is anticipated to uphold and advance the NDA’s agenda and initiatives for the country.
