The Nehru Memorial Museum and Library Society will now be known as the Prime Ministers’ Museum and Library Society, the Culture Ministry announced on Friday. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the Society’s vice president, presided over a special meeting of the Memorial Museum and Library Society where the decision was made.
Executive Council, NMML authorised this project at its 162nd meeting, which took place in November 2016. On April 21 of last year, the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya officially opened to the public.
Despite receiving an invitation from the government, no member of the Nehru-Gandhi family attended the ceremony during the inauguration. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi are three members of the Nehru-Gandhi family who have held the office of prime minister.
The Nehru Museum building, which has been renovated and updated and is “now completely updated with technologically advanced displays on the life and contribution of Jawaharlal Nehru,” according to a release from the Culture Ministry, is the starting point for the museum’s seamless integration.
