Three Indian Police Service (IPS) officers from the Manipur cadre have been appointed as chiefs of central paramilitary forces. Nina Singh, a 1989-batch IPS officer, is the first woman to head the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Currently serving as the Special Director General of CISF, she took on the additional charge of CISF DG after the superannuation of Sheel Vardhan Singh on August 31. Singh will lead the CISF until her retirement on July 31, 2024.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Rahul Rasgotra’s appointment as the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) chief. A 1989-batch IPS officer and special director in the Intelligence Bureau, Rasgotra will serve until September 30, 2025. His appointment coincides with plans to enhance the paramilitary force’s intelligence capabilities.
Anish Dayal Singh, a 1988-batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Holding the CRPF DG’s post in addition to heading the ITBP for the past few weeks, Anish will lead the CRPF until his superannuation on December 31, 2024.
These appointments mark significant milestones, especially with Nina Singh becoming the first woman to lead the CISF.
