The upcoming general elections in 2024 will be shaped by the BJP’s stunning success in the Assembly elections that were held in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, which signifies a saffron rise in the Hindi heartland. The Congress, which was behind in all three of the major states, only succeeded in Telangana against the regional Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). Declaring that the Assembly results were a lead-up to the BJP’s victory in the general elections of 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the results, saying, “Today’s hat-trick has given a guarantee of another hat-trick in 2024.” Even though the BJP won in all three states, the central leadership still chooses the candidates for Chief Minister.
With the BJP winning in 54 of the state’s 90 seats, former chief minister Raman Singh became well-known in Chhattisgarh. 35 seats were won by the Congress. With 164 of 230 seats won by the BJP in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is certain to hold office for a fifth term. The House won sixty-nine seats. Out of 199 seats, the BJP won 115 in Rajasthan, while the Congress only managed to win 69. The party’s objective to win all 25 of the state’s Lok Sabha seats in the next general elections is in line with Vasundhara Raje’s strong support from MLAs, even though the Chief Ministerial candidate in Rajasthan has not yet been officially announced.
In Telangana, the party in power BRS won 39 seats and the Congress got 64 out of 119. At a felicitation function held at the headquarters of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the party’s progress ahead of the national elections. The BJP’s control in important states is cemented by the saffron wave in the Hindi heartland, offering a challenging political picture for 2024
