Rizwan Abdul Haji Ali, a key operative in the Pune ISIS module, was arrested by the Delhi Police’s Special Cell on Thursday. Ali, a resident of Daryaganj, Delhi, had a ₹3 lakh bounty on his head set by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). His arrest comes just days before Independence Day and is part of a larger crackdown on ISIS-linked terrorism in India.
The NIA had previously attached four properties in Pune, valued as “proceeds of terrorism,” in connection with the ISIS module case. These properties were used for IED fabrication, training, and planning terrorist activities. The properties, located in Kondhwa, were linked to several accused, including Mohammed Imran Khan, Mohammed Yunus Saki, and Mohammed Shahnawaz Alam, among others.
The NIA’s investigation revealed a network involved in ISIS-related conspiracies, including plans for attacks in Maharashtra, Gujarat, and other regions of India. In December 2023, the NIA charged six individuals in the Maharashtra ISIS terror module case, uncovering a significant conspiracy with international ties. The accused were alleged to be part of a larger ISIS network aiming to spread terror, disrupt Indian security, and challenge the country’s secular and democratic fabric.
The NIA’s charge sheet detailed the activities and connections of the accused, including their involvement in IED training and raising terror funds through armed robberies. This operation highlights the ongoing efforts to dismantle ISIS operations and prevent terrorist threats within India.
