At the Allen East Centre in Texas, more than 10,000 people gathered on July 3 to recite the Bhagavad Gita in honour of Guru Purnima. The event, which was sponsored by the Yoga Sangeeta Trust America and the SGS Geeta Foundation, was a stirring demonstration of adoration and unity.
Diverse participants came together in a holy setting to immerse themselves in the Bhagavad Gita’s teachings. This momentous occasion left a lasting impression, highlighting the timeless value of the old writings, and igniting a path to enlightenment.

The recitation ceremony took place in the presence of the esteemed spiritual saint Pujya Ganapathy Sachidananda ji who is avadhuta of Avadhoota Datta Peetham Ashram in Mysuru. The Ashram is an internationally recognized organization dedicated to spiritual, cultural, and social welfare activities. According to the organization’s website, Pujya Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji is the Founder Pontiff of Avadhoota Datta Peetham, located at the ashram. Sri Swamiji is renowned for his meditative music and is considered a divine guide promoting ancient Vedic traditions.
Guru Purnima, an auspicious Hindu festival, holds deep significance as a tribute to gurus(teachers). It is observed on the first full moon following the summer solstice, in the Hindu month of Ashad (July to August). This occasion is celebrated not only by Hindus but also by Jains and Buddhists in India, Nepal, and Bhutan. On Guru Purnima, devotees express profound devotion and gratitude towards their gurus, seeking their blessings and guidance on the spiritual path. It serves as an opportunity to honor and acknowledge the impact of these spiritual teachers in one’s life.
