In preparation for the upcoming ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on January 22, a remarkable 108-foot-long incense stick (agarbati) is being crafted in Vadodara, Gujarat. This symbolic offering is set to be sent to Ayodhya, adding to the religious fervor surrounding the grand opening of the Ram Temple. The temple’s inauguration anticipates the influx of lakhs of pilgrims, prompting various infrastructure projects in Ayodhya to accommodate the surge in visitors.
Additionally, Ayodhya’s international airport’s phase-1 is slated for completion by the end of December, further enhancing connectivity for devotees and tourists. The Uttar Pradesh government, cognizant of Ayodhya’s significance, has presented supplementary demands of Rs 28,760.67 crore for the 2023-24 fiscal year in the state assembly. This allocation encompasses diverse development projects, with over Rs 175 crore earmarked specifically for Ayodhya’s growth.
The supplementary budget outlines expenditures, with Rs 19,046 crore dedicated to the revenue account and Rs 9,714 crore to the capital account. Noteworthy allotments for Ayodhya include Rs 50 crore for the Ayodhya Conservation and Development Fund, Rs 100 crore for “Ramotsav” 2023-24, and Rs 25 crore for the development and expansion of the International Ramayan and Vaidik Research Institute.
Addressing crucial sectors, the power sector claims a significant portion of the budget, exceeding Rs 10,000 crore. This allocation also covers Rs 900 crore for providing free electricity to farmers. In a commitment to supporting agriculture, Rs 400 crore has been designated for settling dues of sugarcane farmers, illustrating the government’s multifaceted approach to regional development.
As Ayodhya readies itself for the historic event, these strategic investments and initiatives signify a holistic approach to fostering the city’s growth, tourism potential, and cultural preservation.
