Netflix’s Squid Game is getting ready for a second season with even more twists after the good reception it garnered back in 2021. Given what the original Squid Games was about, this new iteration, Squid Games: The Challenge, is a reality programme, which seems a little dubious.
But hey, they’re ready to unleash it already. Forbes said that Squid Game: The Challenge, a reality programme based on the popular Korean dystopian drama, will include 456 competitors competing for $4.56 million in total prize money in a variety of non-lethal games. Although the OTT juggernaut has not yet provided a specific release date, Netflix has stated that the show will debut in November.
According to rumours, Squid Game: The Challenge would centre on competitors who will be marooned on a secluded island. To earn the main prize, the competitors must form alliances, overcome obstacles, and outlast their rivals. Filming for the 10-episode competition series took place in the UK.
Numerous honours, including as nominations for the Emmy Awards and Golden Globe Awards, were bestowed upon the show and its cast. Squid Games, starring Kim Joo-ryoung, Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, Wi Ha-joon, Heo Sung-tae, and Anupam Tripathi, went on to become one of Netflix’s most popular series.
